Highway 97 closed in both directions between Kelowna and Penticton

Drivers are being turned around on Highway 97 after a rock slide hit the area on Feb. 2, 2019.

SUMMERLAND — Drivers are being turned around after a rock slide hit Highway 97 this morning.

Drive B.C. says the rock slide occurred between Callan Road and N Beach Road for 1.6 kilometres, north of Summerland.

Officials are currently assessing the scene. A geo-technical engineer is enroute. 

Detours are available on Highway 97C, Highway 5A, and Highway 3A.
