The Trans-Canada Highway will be closed this afternoon as crews conduct avalanche mitigation work.
Highway 1 will be closed between Griffin Lake Avalanche Gate and Boulder Mountain Avalanche Gate, roughly seven kilometres west of Revelstoke, Jan. 30.
The highway will remain closed from 1 to 3 p.m. A detour will not be available.
A snowfall warning is also in effect for the Trans-Canada Highway from Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass and the Coquihalla from Hope to Merritt.
"Snow continues over the Columbias. The snow will gradually intensify today and continue tonight. This snow storm will taper off to scattered flurries by early Monday morning," according to a Trans-Canada weather statement from Environment Canada.
More information on B.C. highway conditions can be found through DriveB.C.
