Expect winds gusting up to 70 km/h today in the Thompson and Okanagan regions.

Environment Canada has continued a special weather statement for both regions this morning, Nov. 15, that covers most of the southwest Interior including the South Thompson, Nicola, Similkameen, Okanagan, Shuswap and Boundary regions.

The low pressure system is expected to start building this morning and continue into the evening before moving eastward tonight with winds gusting 50 to 70 km/h.

The weather office is calling for colder temperatures to follow the strong, gusty winds, dropping to 5 Celsius tomorrow in Kelowna and Vernon, 6 C in Penticton and Kamloops.

Highs are expected to be in the 0 C to 3 C from Wednesday on.

Lows are expected to be -5 C to -6 C overnight Tuesday and stay in the -1 C to -4 C range the rest of the week.

The only precipitation in the forecast is for today in most locations. Penticton also has a 60% chance of rain or flurries tomorrow.
