KELOWNA - The possibility of high winds across the region on Friday has prompted a special weather statement for the South Thompson and Okanagan regions.
Environment Canada says a vigorous cold front anticipated to cross the interior Friday is expected to bring strong southwest winds with 60 km/h wind gusts ahead of the front.
Those winds will be followed by northerly gusts up to 70 km/h or more on Friday evening as the front passes.
Recreational boaters are being asked to use caution when making boating plans Friday evening. Be prepared for strong and gusty winds and choose anchorages and moorings that offer protection from westerly and northerly winds.
Alerts and forecasts can be found on the Environment Canada website.
