High-risk offender back in custody after failing to return to Vancouver halfway house

Vancouver police say a high-risk offender is back in custody after breaching his conditions of federal release.

The Vancouver Police Department says in a statement Saturday morning that the 33-year-old is in custody in the Vancouver Jail.

Police arrested him late Friday evening in the Downtown Eastside.

Officers in the area had found him and taken him into custody.

The accused was wanted for breaching the conditions of his statutory release after failing to return to his halfway house.

Police said in a statement Friday evening that the man, who has a history of violence and substance abuse, is a federal offender on statutory release for a break-and-enter.
