Murder charges laid in trailer park death

KELOWNA - The man arrested for murdering a woman at the Hiawatha R.V. Park in Kelowna has been charged with second degree murder.

The body of Amy Jane Parkes, 35, was found shortly before 10 a.m. April 1 inside mobile home #8 in the 3700 block of Lakeshore Road. She failed to show up for work that morning and police were asked to check on her welfare.

Police deemed the death suspicious and called in the Serious Crime Unit to begin a homicide investigation. Ryan James Quigley was quickly identified as a person of interest in the case and police put out a request for public assistance to find him and an associated vehicle

On Thursday, April 3, at about 10 a.m. a plain clothes officer found the suspect vehicle on the 500 block of Coronation Avenue. Quigley was inside the residence, taken into custody without incident and questioned by police.

Quigley is charged with second degree murder and remains in custody. He's scheduled to appear in court today, April 4.
