HANALEI, Hawaii - In a story April 23 about the rescue of a Wisconsin family on Kauai, The Associated Press, relying on information from the Kauai Fire Department, erroneously described a person who helped with the rescue. The Kauai Fire Department says it was a U.S. Army soldier visiting from Oahu, not a firefighter from Canada.

Fire officials say three family members from Wisconsin were rescued when a rogue wave swept them into a well-known tide pool called Queen's Bath.
Kauai Fire Chief Robert Westerman says the parents and their 11-month-old baby were standing on rocks about 1:24 p.m. Saturday when they were swept into the tide pool.
A U.S. Army soldier visiting from Oahu who happened to be at the scene helped the family, who are from Milwaukee, get out of the pool. The fire department initially described the helper as a firefighter from Canada.
The family members were examined by Kauai firefighters and were found to be uninjured.
