KAMLOOPS — The province will be conducting community meetings in various cities across British Columbia to garner feedback on establishing a Chinese Canadian museum in Vancouver.

A number of community meetings will take place throughout the month of January including in Kamloops on Saturday, Jan. 19. The community meetings will allow residents to share their thoughts, experiences and insight on the early planning stages of a Chinese Canadian Museum, according to a press release.

“The creation of this museum is for the people of British Columbia and its visitors,” the release says.

Some feedback has already been received through online forms. The Minister of State for Trade George Chow will lead the public consultation process with support from working groups with vast experience in Chinese Canadian heritage, museum development and city planning.

This Saturday’s feedback session will be held at the Mountain Room at the Thompson Rivers University Conference Centre from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
