If your goal this New Year's Eve is to take in a fireworks display, you have some options depending where you live in the Thompson-Okanagan.

Your best bet is to check out one of the regions ski resorts where fireworks on New Year's Eve has become a tradition.

If driving to a ski resort is not part of your plans, Kelowna's New York New Year’s Eve celebration in Stuart Park downtown will have fireworks to welcome 2020, and a private event at the Penticton Lakeside Resort will have some pyrotechnics on Okanagan Lake.

Family events start at 2 p.m. at the South Okanagan ski resort near Oliver leading up to a torchlight parade at 8:15 p.m. followed by an early fireworks display at 9 p.m. The night culminates with the main fireworks display at midnight. This is a ticketed event.
