The Obsolete Collection Farm Campaign is underway this week in the Okanagan. The campaign provides an opportunity for farmers to safely dispose of unwanted or obsolete agricultural pesticides and livestock medications at no charge.

Disposal locations have been set up in Vernon, Kelowna and Oliver so farmers can drop off the unwanted pesticides and medications, according to a Cleanfarms media release. Cleanfarms is a national industry-led agricultural waste stewardship organization.

Last year, British Columbia farmers returned 22,832 kilograms of pesticides and 1,470 kilograms of livestock and equine medications through the program.

Here are the collection locations and dates:

  • Vernon - Oct. 16 at Grower’s Supply, 1200 Waddington Drive
  • Kelowna - Oct. 17 at Grower’s Supply, 2605 Acland Road
  • Oliver - Oct. 18, at Grower’s Supply, 5911 Sawmill Road

Drop off time is between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
