KELOWNA - Relax folks, it was only a hedge fire.

Kelowna Fire Department crews were called out earlier this afternoon, Sept. 17, to a fire described as being visible from all over the city, platoon captain John Kelly said in a press release.

The first firefighters on scene found a 20-foot section of hedge on fire with flames 20-feet high in an alley behind the 700 block of Stockwell Avenue.

Kelly said the fire was quickly brought under control although they had to cut down the hedge to do it.

A small garden shed was damaged and RCMP are investigating the fire, he said.
