UPDATE: Heavy rain, thunderstorms predicted for the Okanagan, Thompson Nicola

Heavy rain can be expected today and tonight in the Okanagan and Thompson Nicola region, according to a special weather statement issued by Environment Canada.

"A frontal system will track across southern B.C. this morning. In its wake, an unstable atmosphere will give conditions favourable for afternoon showers and thunderstorms that may persist through tonight. Total rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 mm is possible by Monday morning," according to the weather statement.

High streamflow advisories are currently in effect for much of the Interior, including for the Okanagan and Merritt. A full list of advisories can be found here.

The statement includes the entire Okanagan Valley, South Thompson and Nicola regions.
