Heavily-armed RCMP officers seize guns, drugs during raid in B.C. Boundary region

The heavily-armed RCMP emergency response team along with officers from several other units were brought in to seize firearms and drugs from a rural property in a small B.C. town in the Boundary region near the U.S. border.

The enforcement action, which RCMP call a high-risk warrant execution, was taken yesterday, Nov. 14, at the property on Lind Creek Road in Greenwood, according to an RCMP media release.

While executing the search warrant, Midway RCMP officers were backed up by members of the South East District Emergency Response Team, the South East District Regional General Investigation Section, the National Weapons Enforcement Team, the Forensic Identification Section, the Crisis Negotiator Team, the Containment Team and frontline officers from across the Okanagan and Kootenays.

“Due to the nature of the investigation, multiple RCMP resources were utilized,” RCMP said in the release.

Nine firearms – one of which was prohibited – were seized and are being processed for forensic evidence.

While they were there, police also seized eight garbage bags full of magic mushrooms and two plastic containers of cannabis.

A 64-year-old man, a 35-year-old man and a 69-year-old woman from Greenwood were arrested on charges of assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement and uttering threats – however the RCMP release does not explain how those charges relate to the search warrant.

The trio may also be facing firearm, drug possession, production and trafficking charges.

The suspects were released on bail with multiple conditions, which includes not possessing firearms or ammunition.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Midway RCMP at 250-644-8896.
