Head-on semi crash near Salmon Arm hospitalizes both drivers

Two semi-truck drivers were rushed to hospital yesterday, May 18, after both trucks collided head-on driving on the Trans-Canada Highway.

According to a Salmon Arm RCMP media release, the crash took place on Highway 1, between Salmon Arm and Sicamous, at around 6:15 p.m.

Police say one driver was trapped and needed Eagle Valley Rescue to remove him from the semi.

One driver was airlifted to hospital and the other driver was transported to Shuswap Lakes General Hospital for treatment.

The crash took place just west of Bernie Road on Highway 1.

The trucks were both heavily damaged and the highway was closed as the wreckage was removed from the scene.

Salmon Arm RCMP are currently investigating the crash.
