WINDSOR, Ont. - Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be in Windsor, Ont., and Detroit on Friday amid speculation he will be helping announce a new bridge between the two border cities.

A release from Harper's office says the prime minister will take part in announcements and a signing ceremony along with Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder, the Canadian and U.S. ambassadors and cabinet members from the two countries.

The announcement will take place in Windsor at 12:45 p.m. and be followed by a signing ceremony at 3:15 p.m. in Detroit.

The Ontario Trucking Association is among those who have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of a second bridge.

Association President David Bradley says he's glad to see things are in motion.

About one-quarter of all Canada-U.S. trade currently flows across the Ambassador Bridge. But the bridge is close to 100 years old and bottlenecks are not uncommon. (The Canadian Press, CKLW)
