Basketball icons the Harlem Globetrotters are making a stop in Penticton for the team’s centennial season.
The Harlem Globetrotters have been impressing audiences with their antics on the court for 100 years and now folks in Penticton have a chance to see it live at the South Okanagan Events Centre on Jan. 27. Tickets are $25 and go on sale at 10 a.m. on Sept. 22, according to a press release from the Globetrotters.
The current roster holds more than 60 Guinness World Records, including 18 set last year, more than any team in any sport.
The team is going to be in its 100 year jerseys that celebrate the team’s history when it goes up against rivals the Washington Generals in the new year.
Since 1926, the Globetrotters have played for tens of millions of people in more than 124 countries.
For the past 40 years the Emmy nominated series Harlem Globetrotters: Play it Forward has been following the team and showing people their unique approach to the sport.
The team plays exhibition games but its site says both sides are playing to win.
The Globetrotters are members of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and do some charity work like participating in Comic Relief Red Nose Day.
The team is also playing in Vancouver and Abbotsford on Jan. 28 and 29.
