Halloween can be rescued this year despite virus: Dr. Bonnie Henry

One of the big questions faced by provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry when she talked with school children a couple of weeks ago was: “Can we have Halloween?”

So, she wasn’t taken off guard when iNFOnews.ca asked her that same question during a media briefing today, Sept. 9.

“The answer is yes,” Dr. Henry said with a chuckle. “We should be looking at doing it outdoors, in small groups."

"I would encourage some of the innovation we saw around graduation where streets get together and have little areas where people can go and have stuff prepackaged and stuff like that so, I think we can rescue Halloween this year."

Dr. Henry is looking at putting out some guidelines on how that can be done safely.

She’s also been asked about Christmas but has not passed along her recommendations for that holiday yet.
