Woman injured after jumping from second floor of duplex during fire: Red Cross

HALIFAX - Fire has forced seven people from their Halifax duplex, including a woman who was injured when she jumped from a window during the blaze.

The Canadian Red Cross says the woman broke her ankle when she leapt from the building during the late-night fire on High Street in Dartmouth.

She was released overnight, but the agency says her mother remains in hospital where she is being treated for injuries.

Two adults and three children escaped unhurt from the lower unit during the fire, which was reported at about midnight.

The Red Cross says it is meeting with the displaced tenants to arrange emergency aid.
