The Kelowna Curling Club is hosting the Pan Continental Curling Championship later this month.

Brad Gushue, Olympic gold medalist, is leading the men’s team, and Kerri Einarson, reigning four time national champion, is leading the women’s team at the championship which runs from from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4, according to Curling Canada media release.

“It means so much to wear the red and white on home soil, especially in beautiful Kelowna. We’re looking forward to competing at this event again and it’s always an honour to represent Canada,” Einarson said the release.

Both teams are competing to keep their spot in the A division. They must do well in this tournament as well as in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Calgary and the Montana’s Brier in Regina in 2024 in order to compete for the world championship.

Team Gushue has a Vernon local Jim Cotter.

“We’re excited to play there, and we have Jim Cotter coming with us as our fifth man, which is going to be nice. It’ll be fun to spend a week with him. Kelowna is a beautiful city, and I imagine the ice is going to be pretty good,” Gushue said.

Men’s teams from Australia, Chinese Taipei, Guyana, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, and the United States will be coming to compete in Kelowna. Women’s teams from Australia, Chinese Taipei, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, and the United States will be at the Kelowna Curling Club to battle it out with the Canadians.
