KELOWNA - Two armed men robbed a downtown Kelowna business at gunpoint yesterday afternoon.

RCMP say officers responded to a report of a robbery in progress in the 300 block of Lawrence Avenue at around 4:26 p.m. yesterday, June 18.

Police contained the downtown area after learning two men with their faces covered were armed, according to an RCMP media release. One man inside the business was assaulted and sustained minor injuries. Another witness said a suspect fired his gun at the scene; no one was hurt.

The suspects left the business with some cash and jewellery, police say. They were last seen leaving the area eastbound on Lawrence Avenue.

“Kelowna RCMP are reviewing video surveillance from other downtown businesses and are requesting any motorists who were equipped with dashboard cameras to please review their footage in hopes to assist with this investigation,” Const. Lesley Smith says in the release.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. Or remain completely anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. You can also leave a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net or text your tip to CRIMES (274637) ktown.
