KELOWNA - Two alleged Kelowna drug traffickers are in custody awaiting court appearance stemming for charges related to their arrest on yesterday afternoon.

According to an RCMP press release, police officers from the drug section of the Street Enforcement Unit conducted a traffic stop of a green Dodge Charger near the Cooper Road and Springfield Road intersection yesterday, May 2, just before 4:30 p.m. The stop was triggered by the cops observing what appeared to be an illicit drug transaction in the vehicle.

Police put the two occupants under arrest and retrieved a .45 calibre semi-automatic pistol from the vehicle, along with a pair of brass knuckles, bear spray, an expandable baton and over 100 grams of various illicit drugs.

Cody Ryan Roberts, 30, appeared in Kelowna court today, May 3, facing charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and numerous firearms-related offences.

Sarbjit Sunny Nagra, 33, also appeared in court today. He's charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both men are expected to reappear in court on May 7.
