GRINDROD – There’s a lot of excitement in the small, North Okanagan community of Grindrod after one of its own scored a winning lotto number.

Grindrod resident Shelly Reglin has become a bit of a local celebrity after winning $500,000 playing the Extra on the Sept. 1, 2017 Lotto Max draw, the B.C. Lottery Corporation announced in a media release.

“It’s a small town so basically everyone knows I won,” Reglin says in the release. “Everyone is really excited and happy for me.”

Reglin says her win still needs time to sink in, and she looks forward to figuring out what to do with her winnings.

“I still don’t really believe it,” Reglin says. “I might fix my house or get a new one, help out my kids, and maybe buy a motorhome to travel around B.C.”

The winning ticket was purchased at the Red Basket Food Store in Enderby.
