VERNON - Grindrod residents are being told to take extra precautions with their water.
Due to high turbidity and incomplete filtration, Interior Health and the North Okanagan Regional District have issued a water quality advisory for customers supplied by the Grindrod Water Utility.
According to a release from the regional district, turbidity levels have exceeded 1.0 NTU.
“Due to this increase in turbidity (cloudiness) the water quality is now rated as fair,” the district says.
A fair warning means some customers should be careful when ingesting water, particularly young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. For these groups, it’s recommended that water being used for the following purposes be boiled for one minute: drinking, preparing food, preparing infant formula, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice and brushing teeth.
Customers will be notified as conditions change. If you have any questions, please contact RDNO at 250-550-3700 or visit the website.
