A wildfire that was discovered yesterday northwest of Cache Creek is being held by a B.C. Wildfire Service crew.
Fire information officer Taylor MacDonald said the Pioneer Creek wildfire, discovered June 15, near Cody Road off of Highway 97, is being held at 4.5 hectares in size.
When the status of a wildfire changes to "being held," this indicates sufficient suppression action has been taken and the fire will not likely spread beyond existing or predetermined boundaries.
The grassfire did not grow overnight, and the update in the size of the fire is reflected in the wildfire service being able to better map its boundaries, MacDonald said.
No structures are threatened by the fire and seven firefighters will be on scene this morning.
The cause of the wildfire is under investigation and undetermined at this time, MacDonald said.
