PENTICTON - The City of Penticton has been hit by a vandalism spree and are seeking the public’s help in identifying those responsible.

Communications Officer Phillip Cooper said in a release today, Jan. 22, the city pegs damages at $30,000 from public property damaged by graffiti between Jan. 12 and Jan. 16, 2018.

The tags “CEVER” were reported in downtown Penticton during that time frame. On Jan. 17, additional graffiti markings “BTK” were found on locations similar or nearby the previous markings.

Bylaw Supervisor Tina Seibert says the graffiti has been found on 30 different properties, and RCMP have been notified.

The city has had a graffiti removal program in place since 2015 where graffiti is removed as soon as possible from downtown businesses and property.

The city is looking for witnesses, or video footage of the incidents.

Anyone with information about these crimes are asked to call Crime Stoppers at: 1-800-222-8477, or the RCMP at 250-492-4300.

Those wishing to report new instances of activity, and those having questions about the city’s bylaw regarding graffiti are asked to call the city’s bylaw services at: 250-490-2440.
