Good looking weekend in store for Kamloops

You'll need sunscreen if you're outdoors in Kamloops on Saturday as temperatures are expected to hit 33 Celsius under sunny skies.

PENTICTON - If it's sun and heat you're looking for, stick around Kamloops on Saturday.

Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says a short lasting ridge of high pressure should bring sunshine and near record temperatures to the city on Saturday.

A trough on Sunday will cool things down and cloud things up a bit.

"It should come within a couple of degrees of the record," Sekhon says of Saturday's expected high of 33 C.

The bad news is, there aren't any big weather systems with large, widespread amounts of precipitation forecast for the area.

In Kamloops today, expect a mix of sun and cloud and a 40 per cent chance of showers this afternoon along with a risk of a thunderstorm.

The high today should reach 29 Celsius with an overnight low of 16 C.

Friday should see a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 29 C once again.

It’s expected to clear overnight with a low of 17C.

Saturday could be a scorcher in Kamloops, with sunny skies and a high of 33 C expected, along with a overnight low of 15 C.

Sunday temperatures are expected to cool off a bit, with a high of 26 C under a mix of sun and cloud anticipated.

A similar forecast is in store for Monday, with a high of 26 C under a mix of sun and cloud.

Normal Kamloops high and low for this time of year is 25 C and 11 C.
