Exemptions announced for 7 more Canadian golfers for Women's Open

COQUITLAM, B.C. - Seven Canadian golfers have received exemptions to compete at the 2012 CN Canadian Women's Open later this month in Coquitlam, B.C.

Exemptions for three British Columbia golfers — Samantha Richdale of Kelowna, Kirby Dreher of Fort St. John, and Sue Kim of Langley — were announced Thursday.

Also earning exemptions are Fossambault, Que., native Sara-Maude Juneau and Isabelle Beisiegel of Sainte-Hilaire, Que.

And Team Canada members Jennifer Kirby of Paris, Ont., and Brittany Marchand of Orangeville, Ont., were also extended exemptions to compete in event that opens Aug. 20. at the Vancouver Golf Club.

Kirby and Marchand join previously exempt Team Canada members Jisoo Keel of Coquitlam, B.C., and Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont.

Among other Canadians in the 2012 CN Canadian Women's Open field of 156 are Alena Sharp of Hamilton and Lorie Kane of Charlottetown.

Women's World Amateur Golf Ranking No. 1 and teenage sensation Lydia Ko of New Zealand was also extended an exemption to compete in the tournament.
