Defending champion Hee Young Park takes Manulife clubhouse lead

WATERLOO, Ont. - Defending champion Hee Young Park shot 5-under 66 Friday to take the clubhouse lead midway through the second round of the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic.

Park, who entered the day tied for first with Michelle Wie at 6-under 65, had her second bogey-free round to sit at 11 under heading into the weekend at Grey Silo Golf Course.

LPGA rookie Xi Yu Lin was 4 under for the day to move into second place at 8 under, while Spain's Belen Mozo (67) and South Korea's Ne Yeon Choi (67) are tied at 7 under.

Christie Kerr shot 69 to sit at 6 under.

Jennifer Kirby, from Paris, Ont., shot 70 Friday and was at 1 under after two rounds. That should be enough to see her through to the weekend, as the projected cut line was at even par.

Hamilton's Alena Sharp shot 69 to move to even par, while Maude-Aimee Leblanc of Sherbrooke, Que., likely missed the cut at 2 over despite a solid second round of 1-under 70.

Canadians Brooke Henderson, Sue Kim, Erica Rivard, Nicole Vandermade, Lori Kane and Rebecca Lee-Bentham were still on the course.
