Five former champions to play in CN Canadian Women's Open

COQUITLAM, B.C. - A host of former champions will be competing at the 2012 CN Canadian women's open.

Golf Canada announced Monday that Brittany Lincicome, Suzann Pettersen, Cristie Kerr, Michelle Wie and Katherine Hull would all be trying to regain the title and the US$2 million purse.

"Two months out from the championship, we are very pleased with how our field is coming together and expect that all of the world's best players will be at the Vancouver Golf Club," tournament director Sean Van Kesteren said in a statement. "Brittany, Michelle, Suzann, Cristie and Katherine are tremendous talents and I'm sure together with world No. 1 Yani Tseng will be among the crowd favourites during this year's championship."

The tournament will have a field of 156 competitors, including Charlottetown's Lorie Kane and Hamilton's Alena Sharp. LPGA Tour rookies Maude-Aimee LeBlanc of Sherbrooke, Que., and Toronto's Rebecca Lee-Bentham will also play.

Canada's national amateur team will be represented by 16-year-old Jisoo Keel of Coquitlam, B.C. and 14-year-old Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont.
