HAMILTON - Scott Piercy has won the RBC Canadian Open.

He closed with a 3-under 67 at Hamilton Golf and Country Club to edge William McGirt (69) and Robert Garrigus (70) by a shot.

Piercy shot a course-record 62 on Thursday and started Sunday two shots behind Garrigus.

Piercy, McGirt and Garrigus all held the lead at some point during the final round, but Piercy earned his second career PGA Tour title when McGirty bogeyed No. 18 and Garrigus failed to make birdie.

Piercy's winning score of 17-under 263 matched the tournament scoring record established by Johnny Palmer at Winnipeg's St. Charles Country Club in 1952.

Graham DeLaet of Weyburn, Sask., finished as the low Canadian.
