Have your pointed hats and long black capes at the ready (but leave your broomstick at home) for this season’s annual witchy paddleboarding events.

Covens will be gathering on lakes across North America again this Halloween season to take part in more organized paddleboarding events.

Witchy paddleboarding events have become increasingly popular over the years, with many turning into annual fundraising and charity events.

Next weekend, West Kelowna residents and people from further afield are invited to “get all Witchy and come paddle!” at Pritchard Beach and Playground.

The event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 8.

“Event is weather pending so let's hope for calm winds!!”, Organizer Tammy Sokoloski Bachelier wrote on the Facebook event page.

Later in the month, the Wood Lake Water Witches will set sail from Oyama in Lake country.

The event takes place annually and invites local kayakers and paddleboarder gather with a magical costume and mindset.

The event will take place on Oct. 15.

Participants will gather at 2:00 p.m. and set off on the water by 3:00 p.m.

At the end of the month, more witches are invited to paddle in Coldstream at Kal Beach.

The event will take place on Saturday Oct. 28, at 12:00 p.m.

Participants are encouraged to show up in their finest witchy attire and join in on an afternoon of spooky paddling at the lake.

“All are welcome as long as you’re dressed up - darker/witchier the better for a spooky vibe on the lake,” organizer Ashley Lyn Reich said on the Facebook event page.

People of all ages and abilities are encourage to attend and even pets are welcome.

“This event is suitable for various experience levels, but is not recommended for first time paddlers (unless you’re willing to risk a cold plunge in the lake!),” Reich said.
