KAMLOOPS - Downtown Kamloops is looking forward to the annual Spring Festival celebrations. This year, the event runs from Thursday, May 19, right through to Saturday, May 21. Come celebrate spring in the streets of Downtown Kamloops with live art & music, patio dining, and sidewalk sales! Businesses and restaurants in the centre of the city are opening up their doors and patios to welcome you all. This year’s festival has new and exciting things happening on all three days.

For all three days of the festival we will have live music on the 200, 300 and 400 blocks of Victoria Street. There will also be chalk art work and entertainers filling the streets of Downtown Kamloops for all to enjoy.

On Thursday May 19 we kick start the Spring Festival with the very first Kamloops Artisan Market. This market will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the 400-block of Victoria Street every Thursday following the Spring Festival launch. Stop by to see what the local artists and crafters have to offer! Thursday also features amazing entertainment from James Johnson Bigger Balloon Comedy Show.

May 20 is Foodie Friday, which features pop-up picnics (hint: You’ll definitely find one at St. Andrew’s on the Square) and the launch of a new social media promotion called #dinedtk. Snap a picture of your food or drink and #dinedtk at your favorite downtown restaurant for a chance to win foodie gift cards and a grand prize of $250 to spend at downtown restaurants.

Saturday May 21st features Art Alley from noon to 4 p.m. This new event is a celebration of art and local artists! Citizens can enjoy live canvas painting in a back alley artistic oasis just off 4th Avenue, between the patios of Red Collar Brewing and Central Station Pub. During the live art showcase observers are invited to join one of the near-by patio parties at Red Collar Brewing and Central Station Pub to get creative themselves! Join in with Drink and Draw at one of the patio parties or by adding to the community canvas.

Art Alley features a Local Art Auction. When the canvas painting is complete, the beautiful creations will be auctioned off as part of a fundraiser for the Customer Care and Patrol Team (CAP Team). Bids on the local paintings begin at the start of the event as a silent auction and when 3 p.m. arrives, we begin the live auction.

The CAP Team Program is dedicated to promoting public safety and assisting all visitors to downtown Kamloops, making it an even more desirable place to shop, play, eat and just be. So stop by and take home one of the beautiful canvases to show your support for our Downtown Ambassadors.
