Get Ready to Celebrate Sports Day in Canada

KAMLOOPS - Will you be attending the Santa Clause Parade on Saturday November 30th? Why not warm up afterwards with free hot drinks at the Sports Day in Canada celebrations taking place following the parade at Interior Savings Centre Plaza.

From noon to 4 p.m., a variety of activities for kids of all ages will be going on to celebrate sport in our community.

Bring out your snowboard and earn some great prizes at RailJam, presented by Sun Peaks and Oronge Board Shop. There will be a variety of features, with something for all skill levels.

RBC will have an obstacle course with a focus on fundamental movement skills and PacificSport will have a Funzone engaging youngsters to get active.

The City is also hosting a street hockey tournament, so bring out your sticks and/or goalie equipment to play four-on-four for your chance to win prizes. The tournament is for ages 8 to 15, with a max of 7 players per team. Cost is $15 cash per team, payable to Ben Chobater at the Parks and Recreation Office at TCC. To register email bchobater@kamloops.ca. All proceeds will go to support the Kamloops Hockey for Youth with Special Needs program.

Other activities taking place around town in celebration of Sports Day include:

On Saturday, November 30th from 2 to 4 p.m., there will be free skates at Valleyview and Brock Arenas, sponsored by Tim Hortons.

Kamloops Gymnastics and Trampoline Center and Kamloops Long Blades Speed Skating Club are both offering free classes to come out and try the sports. For more information visit www.sportsday.cbc.ca.

Don’t forget to come on down to the ISC Plaza following the Santa Clause Parade to take part in the celebrations!
