Get ready for Interior gas prices to rise

If you're able to fill up your vehicle's tank tonight, you probably should.

GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst Dan McTeague says some areas of the Southern Interior may see up to 10 cents per litre increases at the pumps starting tomorrow, Jan. 10.

Particularly in Kamloops, prices are expected to sky-rocket overnight thanks to wholesale gas prices in the U.S. Local gas station owners will be paying approximately $1.15.5 per litre for gasoline in the next 24 hours, McTeague says.

"Starting tomorrow you're going to see prices move up," he says. "The low end might be $1.23 but $1.26.9 looks like the number I would be certainly looking at (for Kamloops)."

Gas prices in the Okanagan are closer to that mark already, so they'll likely see approximately a three-cent-increase at the pumps.

Prices in some areas of Kamloops are currently at approximately $1.13.9 per litre, like at the Petro Canada in Brocklehurst.

"If you're seeing gasoline under $1.20 in the Okanagan or anywhere in the Interior… get your gasoline now," McTeague warns. "If you’re in Kamloops and you see gas for $1.13, don’t hesitate, fill up."

McTeague adds that forecasting shows 2018 will be an expensive year for fuel.
