Get in tune with the Christmas season in the South Okanagan

There will be a wide selection of Christmas baking and stocking stuffers at the 15th annual Alert Cookie Walk, Bake Sale and Bazaar taking place at the Lakeside Resort, Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

PENTICTON - Events this weekend in the South Okanagan include a number of Christmas-themed activities where the whole family is welcome.

The Penticton Shrine Club hosts a pre-Christmas variety show at Cleland Theatre on Sunday, Dec. 10. The event, billed as great entertainment for the entire family, starts at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available at the door for $20 dollars with all proceeds going to the Children’s Transportation Fund to transport local children to a Shriner hospital. Shriners Hospitals are located in the United States, Canada and Mexico, providing specialty paediatric health care. For further information call 250-488-1590.

St. Andrews Presbyterian Church presents Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at St. Andrews Church located at 157 Wade Ave. West. The play starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8 and Saturday Dec. 9. There are 2:30 p.m. matinees on Saturday, Dec. 8 and Sunday, Dec. 10. Tickets are available at the door or at the Dragon’s Den on Front Street for $20 with free admission for children under 12.

The 15th annual Alert Cookie Walk - Bake Sale and Bazaar takes place on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Penticton Lakeside Resort. There will be a wide selection of stocking stuffers, giftware, pottery, clothing, antiques, jewellery and more. Cookies and baked goods are available at $8 per pound while quantities last. Funds raised by the event will support the Alert animal rescue that had a busy summer with the wildfires and are restocking for next year.

Osoyoos hosts the 2017 Rockin’ with Santa next weekend on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sun Bowl Arena in Osoyoos. This free event is billed as Christmas fun for all ages, and includes skating, games and crafts. You can check out the Rockin' with Santa website for more details.
