If the weather cooperates, residents in the Okanagan and Kamloops should be able to see some meteors in the night sky this week.

The Geminids meteor shower reaches its peaks overnight on Wednesday, Dec. 13, with up to 150 meteors visible in the sky every hour. The Geminids are considered to be the most spectacular meteor shower of the year.

The meteors appear to radiate from the constellation Gemini, giving the shower its name, according to NASA. The meteors originate from an asteroid called 3200 Phaethon.
