Gas station near Kamloops robbed at gunpoint

Police are looking for witnesses after a Savona gas station was robbed at gunpoint last night.

A man pulled out a firearm at the Super Save gas station before he fled with another suspect waiting on a motorcycle yesterday, Aug. 9, according to a Tk'emlups Rural RCMP news release.

Police responded around 10:20 p.m. to the 7000 block of the Trans-Canada Highway, but the two suspects were gone.

“The man fled from the store and jumped on the back of a black street motorcycle, driven by his accomplice who was waiting nearby,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

An officer later spotted the motorcycle near Deer Road and while trying to stop the two riders, one of them dropped a bag with the stolen goods inside. The suspects on the motorcycle got away.

Police said the suspect with the gun was wearing a black and orange motorcycle helmet with the number "509" on its side.

Anyone who witnessed, has dash cam footage, or information related to the investigation is asked to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP at 250-314-1800 and reference file 2022-27763.
