WEST KELOWNA - Several West Kelowna gas stations are displaying what may be a portent for the summer in the Central Okanagan - gas nearing $1.50 a litre.
Two West Kelowna Shell stations are displaying a per litre price of $146.9, although GasBuddy.com, has not yet shown the change.
GasBuddy.com is showing current prices between $1.29.9 and $132.9 per litre in West Kelowna.
According to GasBuddy, a litre of regular gasoline was selling for an average price $133.9 per litre in the Kelowna area, down three cents from last week but up one cent from last month.
The average price last year at this time was $119.6, 14 cents lower. Gas prices traditionally rise in the summer as demand rises.
Since GasBuddy began keeping records, the highest recorded average price in the Kelowna area was $1.47.6 in September 2008. The lowest was $.75.9 in December the same year.
