A West Kelowna man with gang connections is facing new charges today after police seized weapons during a search warrant on a suspected drug house.
The Kelowna gang suppression unit arrested 33-year-old Austin William Murray and Chelsea Elizabeth Kibzey as they left their Kinnear Avenue house Jan. 2. Murray is a prolific offender prohibited indefinitely from possessing firearms because of previous convictions. Kibzey is also prohibited indefinitely from possessing firearms. Police found two handguns, one loaded, inside the home. They also discovered a bullet resistant vest, 12 grams of heroin, stolen licence plates, a stolen computer and stolen identification.
The two were at large on conditions at the time of the arrest. They'll go to court Jan. 4 on various firearms and property offences.
Murray was charged three weeks ago with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance after plain clothes RCMP arrested him in downtown Kelowna in what they suspected was a stolen truck, with 46 grams of methamphetamine, 1.8 ounces of liquid GHB (gamma-hydoxybutyrate), 0.5 grams of crack cocaine, 0.4 grams of heroin, drug paraphernalia and $3,800.
