MONTE LAKE - Support is pouring in for a Monte Lake family who lost their home in the Martin Mountain wildfire.

A family of four lost their house and everything they own in the fire Wednesday night, July 26, according to a Go Fund Me page

The fundraiser, created by Alexis Brenner, says the family was not home when the fire broke out.

“They were not allowed to return home to save anything and quite literally have nothing left but each other and the clothes on their backs,” Brenner says.

iNFOnews.ca has been unable to reach the family directly, however a close friend confirmed the story and public Facebook posts by a family member show the devastating effects of the fire.

The aggressive blaze erupted Wednesday afternoon and quickly grew to 150 hectares. As of Thursday, B.C. Wildfire says the fire is 30 per cent contained. Fire information officer Max Birkner said structures are still threatened and wind in the forecast could make things more challenging.
