KELOWNA - A familiar name will be on the ballot in the Kelowna-Lake Country riding in the federal election next year after MP Stephen Fuhr was acclaimed as the Liberal candidate.

Fuhr upset Conservative incumbent Ron Cannan in the 2015 election, making him the first federal Liberal MP in the riding in 50 years. He was acclaimed by the Liberal Party of Canada riding association to carry the flag in the 2019 election, according to a release by Fuhr.

In the release, Fuhr says he's "confident running on my record" and points to the fruits of having an MP in government instead of opposition but admits his government will be judged on national issues, including the economy.

“I want to thank the community for its support and confidence. I appreciate the many conversations I’ve had with constituents over the years and I’ve done my best to represent their views in the Nation’s capital," he said. "I am passionate about seeing Canada continue to move forward as a progressive democracy and, in 2019, I look forward to seeking the community’s support to continue in that direction.”
