PENTICTON - There are a wide variety of events to attract locals and visitors alike this May long weekend.
The Meadowlark Festival runs through holiday weekend to Monday, May 21. The festival’s events are geared to appeal to a cross-section of people and interests, taking place at various locations throughout the South Okanagan and Similkameen.
Festival headquarters at the Shatford Centre can also be a good place for groups to meet for the various events, which take place rain or shine. For more information see the Meadowlark website.
The Osoyoos Medieval Faire takes place in Osoyoos today, May 18 to Sunday, May 20 at Desert Park Racetrack.
There will be jousting contests, old world games and food fit for a king during the weekend event, which includes performers re-enacting life in the middle ages. See the Osoyoos Medieval Faire website for more information.
The Young Guns Memorial Weekend 10th edition takes place at Penticton Speedway Saturday at 7 p.m. Events include the Hornet Invitational, Street Stocks and Hit-to-Pass. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $12 for youths and seniors and a pit pass will set you back $25. Kids 10 and under get in free.
The Keremeos Elks May long weekend rodeo 80th edition runs Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Saturday events include barrel racing, pole bending and team roping. The main rodeo goes on Sunday and Monday is the rodeo parade followed by other rodeo events. For more information see the Keremeos Elks Rodeo website.
The Farmer’s Market and the Penticton Downtown Community Markets are in full operation, Saturdays starting at 8:30 a.m. on Penticton’s downtown Main Street.
The Peach City Half Marathon and 10 km race runs on Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can choose your level of participation for a personal record or just to go the distance.
