KELOWNA - Neon clothing, reflective shades, muscles and booze on the beach, this weekend is Center of Gravity in Kelowna.

The annual sports and music festival starts today, July 28, at City Park and runs all weekend. DJ Invizible kicks off the weekend Friday at 4:30 p.m. at the main stage and sports start on Saturday with basketball jumping off at 9 a.m. Click here for more information on the festival, including the entire lineup and schedule.

The Kelowna Falcons have a busy weekend, with games every night against the Bellingham Bells. Today and tomorrow the game is set to start at 6:35 p.m., and 6:05 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are only $12.

Check out the first completed kilometre of the Okanagan Rail Trail, 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday. The open house-style event will allow the public to walk or bike on the trail and learn what is to come next. The event is being held on McCarthy Road in Lake Country.

Looking to quench your thirst? Ciderfest at Big White has just what you are looking for. Cideries from across the province will be at the festival, including Howling Moon Craft Cider and Lone Tree, to name a couple. This year’s festival will also include an artisan craft fair. Tasting tickets are $1.50 each, 10 for $15, or 20 for $28.

For the second year in a row, the Sugarplum Ball is back, and bigger than before. The event, hosted by Okanagan Young Professionals, Collective and Okanagan Pride will be held at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. This year’s theme is the circus so one can only imagine the outfits, performances and decorations that will make up the evening. The patio opens at 7 p.m. and the theatre opens at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $36.50 to $62.50 and are selling out fast.

If a ball isn’t quite your thing, you’ll want to check out the Okanagan Sun’s season opening game against the Westshore Rebels. The football game starts at 7 p.m. at the Apple Bowl Stadium, and adult tickets are $17.75, and students with identification will be charged $12.75.
