Pay parking is being waived in two areas of Kelowna because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“With significantly fewer vehicles parking in the downtown and south Pandosy business areas, and to support restaurants moving to a take-out/delivery operating model, City council agreed today to immediate, temporary changes in effect until May 31,” states a City of Kelowna news release.

People with monthly permits in parkades who won’t be using them because of self-isolation, quarantine or working remotely can ask for a one-month deferral of fees for April or May.

Time limits for parking on the streets will remain in place.

The change starts as of 9 a.m. tomorrow, March 24.

Street parking is down 60 to 70 per cent while parkades are down by about 50 per cent, the release says.
