Four WHL players who were suspended indefinitely might be allowed to play again after the this season.

Moose Jaw Warriors Connor Ungar, Max Wanner, Lynden Lakovic and Marek Howell were suspended in connection to an off-ice incident that took place during a road trip in Edmonton last month, according to a WHL media release issued today, March 10. Lakovic played two games for the BCHL's West Kelowna Warriors last season.

If they want to play in the league again they’ll have to complete “further personal conduct and respect training,” the release says.

An independent investigation was conducted and was recently complete.

It found the players’ conduct was not criminal in nature following a separate investigation by the Edmonton Police Service, but they did violate league and team rules.

However, the specific details about the incident were not shared by the league.

“Out of respect for the privacy of all of the parties involved, the WHL cannot provide further details on the matter,” the release says.

The punishment also includes a $25,000 fine for the Moose Jaw Warriors Hockey Club, as well as five game suspensions for general manager Jason Ripplinger and head coach Mark O’Leary, who failed to “provide the proper oversight and supervision required to ensure a safe and positive environment for players, in particular, while travelling.”
