Vernon Mounties suspect foul play is behind the disappearance of a local man and they are asking for assistance in their investigation.

Rory McDonald, 60, was last seen May 16 in the 3300 block of 35 Ave. of Vernon and in the days since he's been missing, the Vernon RCMP Serious Crime Unit has come to believe foul play was involved, according to a press release.

They did not offer any insight into why they reached that conclusion.

McDonald is a Caucasian man, six-foot-five, 230 pounds with short white hair, a moustache and a goatee. He also has a tattoo of a unicorn on his left bicep. He was last seen wearing a black Volcom brand T-shirt with the logo "Volcom Storm" on the front, blue jeans that may have been rolled up below the knee, grey/black skater style shoes; and he was carrying a large black backpack.

While they don't offer insight into why they suspect foul play they are also looking for witnesses who may have seen a Honda or Volkswagen in any rural or remote locations within the North Okanagan area between May 16 and May 21.

Anyone with information in regards to the whereabouts of McDonald or the two vehicles pictured in this story are asked to call Const. MacQueen with the Vernon RCMP Serious Crime Unit at 250-260-7122.
