PENTICTON - A dual topic forum aimed at finding answers to local workforce hiring and housing issues is headed to Penticton.
The Penticton Hiring & Workforce Housing Forum happens at Penticton’ Lakeside Resort Sept. 18, giving local employers and business leaders an opportunity to find the newest and most innovative recruiting methods.
The forum also provides an opportunity for employers to work together to solve housing challenges.
The forum is hosted by the City of Penticton’s Economic Development Department. It will bring leading experts, hands-on workshops and keynote speaker Brock Dickinson, global economic development specialist who will talk about how employers can remain competitive in spite of the challenges ahead to interested South Okanagan business owners and employers.
The forum is geared to have two streams of topics running simultaneously with participants picking from either agenda through the day.
Hiring topics include learning how to position your business to attract the ideal recruit, increasing your online presence, and learning about hiring incentives for ‘untapped’ labour markets.
There will also be assistance for employers to film their own on-site video.
Workforce housing options include finding out about innovative housing and financing methods, connecting with key decision-makers, identifying the pain points in finding housing and hear about options to resolve them.
The meeting will also allow employers to get together with investors, developers, planners, property managers, and various levels of government bodies all under the same roof.
The event is aimed at South Okanagan employers, investors, planners, property managers, real estate specialists and the development community
The forum takes place at the Penticton Lakeside Resort & Conference Centre on Sept. 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $50.
