Five things to do for Mother's Day in Vernon

VERNON - Lunch or brunch may be the most popular thing to do with mom this Mother's Day, but that's just the beginning. Here are a few suggestions of things to do that may, or may not, involve food.

Treat mom to a cup of tea served in elegant fine bone China and scones with Devonshire cream and preserves on the verandah of the Mackie Lake House. Mother's Day Tea runs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and includes a tour of the country mansion. Tickets cost $45. For more information go here.

Gallery Vertigo is hosting the Okanagan Collaboration Challenge. Eighteen local musicians were put into pairs just weeks ago and now will perform nine new songs they have written. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. music starts at 7 p.m. For more information go here.

Moms with a creative flare can try a hand at 'Heart Strings' for Mother's Day, put on by 123Artful at the Outboard Waterfront Pub. All paint materials, aprons and easels are supplied. Tickets cost $40. The event runs from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. For more information go here.
