PENTICTON - Keremeos firefighters had their freezing hands full this morning after being called to a structure fire in the village.

Keremeos Fire Chief Jordy Bosscha said strong winds and cold temperatures froze hands and air packs but the department was able to douse the Fourth Avenue blaze with damage confined to one room.

“Fortunately the  door to the room was closed, which contained the fire to that room,” Bosscha said this afternoon, Feb. 4.

Fifteen firefighters fought the blaze for approximately three hours after arriving on scene around 9:30 this morning.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
