Firefighters act quickly to suppress large grass fire

KELOWNA - Kelowna Fire Department quickly dealt with a large grass fire yesterday, July 29.

Firefighters arrived at the fire southeast of Academy Way and John Hindle Drive around 5:22 p.m.

Crews acted fast to contain the blaze. At i's largest, it was approximately 200-feet by 80-feet in size, platoon captain Dennis Miller said in a release.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. There were no reported injuries.

Miller reminds the public that campfires and any open fires are illegal and not permitted within the City of Kelowna.
